Our HVAC Tech Training Series

The HVAC Tech Training Series covers the principles of air conditioning and the refrigeration system.  Classroom and lab sessions are included throughout the course in order to aid the participant in learning theory and practical application of applied air conditioning techniques and practices.  Participants will have the opportunity to put the gained knowledge to work by using various test procedures on actual equipment and operating training units in our lab facility.  Each course meets the requirements of the State of Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors for 24 CE Hours of continuing education. 

Classes are held 6:00-9:00 PM weekly, or bi-weekly throughout the duration of the course. Students will begin with Tech 1 and it will be followed up immediately with Tech 2, Tech 3, and Tech 4 to complete the Program.  The Cost for each 8-week Tech Class is $489.00 for a total of $1956.00 for the entire Series. Students will need to purchase the “Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology” textbook, 9th addition before beginning the Tech 1 Operations Course. Tech 4 – LAB

Ready to put your skills to the test? Our Tech 4 – LAB Course is the ultimate hands-on experience for HVAC technicians. Dive into Gas Furnace operations and diagnostics, and learn the ins and outs of Central Unit Disassembly and Reassembly. Master the art of Preventive Maintenance and Manual J Load Calculations. Get hands-on experience with Metal Bending and Transition Building, and perfect your skills in Soldering, Brazing, Pro Press, and Pipe fitting. This course is designed to provide you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to excel in the HVAC industry.

HVAC PREP SEMINAR

2 Day Workshop

The HVAC Prep Seminar is designed to cover subject material that relates to the requirements to become a certified HVAC Contractor in the State of Alabama (www.hacr.alabama.gov).  This intensive two-day workshop will take the participant step-by-step through the complex maze of required books and exercises.  The participants will also learn the basic skills of taking open book exams and review the fundamental requirements of safety, air conditioning, codes, control, duct sizing, load calculations, and business law relating to heating and air conditioning.  Pre-Registration is required for this course.  This class will be held Fri.-Sat. from 8:00am-5:00pm. Total cost for the Prep Seminar is $515.00

Yes. A heating and air conditioning certification is required for any entity involved in air duct cleaning service, filter changing service, replacement of air filters or filter media, and the cleaning of heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration equipment, components, or systems. (440-X-3-.01(3))

Every contractor must take 4 continuing education hours each year. A contractor may take as many as 8 hours in a single year and carry over 4 of those hours to the next renewal cycle. Any additional hours taken above 8 hours will not carry over. (440-X-3.05)

Our HVAC Tech Series is designed to be taken in order starting with Tech 1 and run consecutively. However, if you have dropped from a previous series and were unable to finish you may be able to jump in if there is an available spot. Give is a call at 256- 536-7804.
